Cheboygan, Michigan: Best Western River Terrace

October 2021, weekend, one-night, king guestroom 229

Arrival and check-in

Check-in was very efficient and quick. I was using gift cards for part of our stay cost, so the agent provided an email address for me to forward the cards to. When I checked out the next day, the card values had not yet been applied. Staff took care of it and emailed my receipt.

Guestroom 229

This guestroom is on the top floor near the center of the hotel. It has a private balcony overlooking the river. The room was nice, other than the building is somewhat old, and the room had a sightly damp odor. At least the window and balcony door both had a screen so we could let the fresh air in.

The bedding, pillows, and mattress were all merely okay. Nothing special, and nothing to really complain about either. I thought the mattress was too hard, although my husband did not think that was a problem.

The fridge in the room was larger than I expected. The room also contained a microwave, coffeemaker with supplies, TV, desk area, soft chair, and suitcase bench.

The bathroom was quite small. The sink faucet made a weird squeaking noise when turned on; it was still functional, as was the rest of the bathroom. An open closet with hangers was located across from the vanity.

Food & beverage

Breakfast is included with the room rate. Items included a waffle maker, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, and beverages. The water cooler was not working, and staff gladly provided a bottle of water when I inquired about it.

Misc. and overall

There is a great view of the river from the rooms in this hotel. It was an easy walk to the businesses and parks in town. Unfortunately, the river trail outside our room does not go all the way to town, so we had to walk along the road part of the way. Hotel employees were friendly and helpful.

We were on a brewery color tour this trip, and I will share info about some of the places we visited in my next post. Let me know if you have any questions!
