Lafayette, Indiana: Staybridge Suites

October 2021, 2-nights, weekdays, 1-bedroom king guestroom 419

Arrival and check-in

I did not check-in on the app before we arrived, because when I did this before, hotel staff told me they are unable to assign or change the room assigned. The expressway noise is extremely loud in the parking lot in front of this building. We could not hear the noise after we entered on that side of the building, so I am not sure if the noise is loud in the guestrooms on that side of the hotel. During check-in, I asked if the rooms are well soundproofed, or if we were on the back side of the building. The agent said we were on the back side of the building. We were initially assigned guestroom 219. When I asked if there was a room available on the top floor, the agent checked, and reassigned us guestroom 419. I had requested a top floor room in my reservation notes, which apparently were not read before our arrival.

King 1-bedroom suite 419

This suite is near the elevator and overlooks the courtyard. We did not hear any noise from the elevator, and hallway noise was minimal.

Suite 419 was comfortable and clean. It is a typical 1-bedroom suite with [almost] full kitchen, bar seating area, living room, bedroom, and bathroom.

The only thing missing in the kitchen was an oven, which most Staybridge Suites do not have.  There were two microwaves in this guestroom. I assume the countertop one was brought in because the glass tray was missing from the larger one mounted above the burners. The dishwasher and coffeepot are on the left of the sink and are not visible in the photo above.

The bedsheets, pillows, and mattress were good quality and comfy. The sheets were silkier than what I usually experience at Staybridge Suites. A second flatscreen TV was located on a dresser at the foot of the bed.

The internet connection speed in the suite was good.

Breakfast at Staybridge Suites Lafayette, Indiana

Food & beverage

The food offered for breakfast and during social hour was impressive. Breakfast items alternated for the two mornings we were there, and included: scrambled eggs, fold-over omelets, bacon, sausage, potatoes, waffle maker, breads, muffins, granola bars, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cheeses, fruit cups, granola/yogurt cups (delicious!), cereals, beverages, and more.

The evening social included baked potatoes with many toppings one night, and burgers and hot dogs from the grill on Wednesday. Chili was also served with the potatoes, along with fresh salad and potato soup with the burgers. Fresh baked cookies were served, as well. In addition to soda, two beers were offered, and wine.

Misc. and overall

This hotel is close to Meijer and I-65. There are a couple of restaurants near the hotel within walking distance, although most of the restaurants with inside dining are on the other side of I-65. That area is still close; just not walkable. During our stay, we overheard a guest inquiring about a guestroom on the back side of the building we were on. I am not sure if he had already been to his room (it looked like he was just checking in), or if he was inquiring like we had because the expressway noise is so loud in front of the hotel. If the guestroom windows are as soundproof as the entry doors, it does not seem like the noise would be bad on either side of the building, although I do not know for sure.

Overall, this was a great stay, and I would choose this hotel again. Employees were friendly and accommodating. It was easy to use the free washer and dryer on floor 1 in the early morning before we departed. We did not use the fitness center or the pool area.

Let me know if you have any questions!
