Reservations, arrival, diamond perks
In 2016, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in this area. I chose the Hampton Inn this time, as I was hoping to maintain my diamond status at Hilton. At check-in time, the app did not show any upgrades available. The day before, there were king rooms available on the top floor, and the afternoon on the day of our arrival these rooms were no longer showing. I called the hotel that afternoon to ask for help choosing a room. I asked if they could offer a diamond upgrade or a guestroom on the top floor. This hotel was apparently very busy, because this call took me almost half an hour (28 minutes)! I was on hold for 15 minutes, and then it took just about the same amount of time for the agent to assist me. Even though this took a long time, I was glad I waited. The agent was very thorough--checking my profile preferences, looking at available rooms, and explaining rooms she did not think I would like. She offered me a corner suite on floor two, which I gladly accepted.

King suite 202
This guestroom is at the end of the hall on floor two. It was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The lighting at the work desk was good; however, the lighting throughout the guestroom could have been better. It was kind of dim in the area where the suitcase bench was, the inside of the closet, and the counter area below the microwave.

The sofa and work desk area were comfortable. The bed comfort was merely okay; the mattress felt kind of aged. Overall, we were happy with the guestroom. It was very quiet.

When I tried to connect to the internet, I thought it was not working because the connection circle icon just kept spinning and spinning. The same thing happened after I restarted my computer and tried again. I then tried to call the front desk to ask if there was trouble with the service, and no one answered (I called twice and hung up after 8 or more rings). After this, I noticed that my computer was actually connected to the Internet, even though the icon said it was still trying to connect. I closed the connection window, and the Internet worked fine.

We loved the walk in tile shower in the bathroom. Shampoo and soap were provided; however, I wish that Hampton Inn would also supply shower gel.
Food and beverage
Cookies were available with coffee in the breakfast room at 6:00 PM. Breakfast in the morning included the basic foods: scrambled eggs, bacon, white breads, oatmeal, cereals, waffle maker, apples and bananas, juices, milk, and yogurt.
Pool and whirlpool
My husband used the whirlpool. He said it was warm and clean.
Misc. and overall
This hotel is easy to get to from I-77 and I-81. It is one exit north of the Holiday Inn Express where we stayed in 2016. Our experience at both hotel was similar, although I do prefer the Keurig coffeemakers in guestrooms at Holiday Inn Express.
