November 2016, Weekday (holiday), 1-night, King suite 317
Sunrise from guestroom 317 |
We redeemed points for this stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites on the evening of Thanksgiving.
Platinum perks and check-in
We received an upgrade to a suite, and I received the 500 Platinum member bonus points. The front desk agent recognized my status, and our guestroom had been upgraded before our arrival.
The wet bar area outside the bathroom contained a small fridge, microwave, sink, and Kuerig K-cup coffeemaker with supplies. There were no supplies in the cupboards over the sink. Wine is available for purchase from the hotel gift shop, and I was able to get a wine glass to use in the guestroom. A closet was located across from the wet bar.
The sitting area contained a small table, two chairs, sofa, end tables, coffee table, and lamps. There were plenty of electrical outlets in this area.
Most of the bedroom furnishings are visible in the photos above: king size bed, nightstands with lamps and clock, flatscreen TV on an armoire, suitcase bench (between the armoire and desk), soft chair with footstool, and desk with chair and lamp. There was a cordless telephone on the desk, and a corded one on the nightstand next to the bed. The large window did not open.
This guestroom is located near the elevator and almost directly across the hall from the ice and vending area. It faces the east. If you can get a room on the opposite side of the hall, you will get a sunset view over the mountains. We did not hear any noise from outside the guestroom, other than the ice machine overnight. We did not hear it run at all before this. I was awoken by a clinking and chugging noise, which I could not figure out, until I opened the door and looked into the hall. The noise was not super loud, and I was able to block it by placing a towel on the floor at the bottom of the guestroom door.
The wireless Internet connection speed in the guestroom was good. The guestroom and bed were both comfortable and clean for the most part. We requested fresh bedding, when we noticed hairs on the sheets. The front desk agent took care of this.
We were very happy and comfortable at this hotel, and I would choose it again the next time we are in the area. Other than the issue we encountered with the bed sheets, all areas of this property were clean. Employees provided excellent assistance, and we felt welcome.

Food & Beverage
The included breakfast was good. The food was fresh and good quality. The sitting area was clean and comfortable. The pictures on the hotel website are an excellent representation of the food provided, and the seating comfort. Additionally, there is a large flatscreen TV with a sofa and sitting chairs in the breakfast room, which is not shown.Pool
The inside pool area was clean and well maintained. The pool water felt cool, and we would have preferred a bit warmer water in the whirlpool tub. There is an outside sitting area outside the pool room, which is on the west side of the building. If we had realized this before dark, we would have watched the sunset from the patio.Misc. and overall
This hotel is easily accessible from I-77/81, although we did not see a hotel sign on Main Street after we got off the interstate. It is behind Quality Inn & Suites. The location matched our GPS directions exactly, so we did not have any difficulty finding it.We were very happy and comfortable at this hotel, and I would choose it again the next time we are in the area.
