Petoskey, Michigan: Stafford's Perry Hotel

February 2021, Weekend, Two nights, Bayside King Deluxe Guestroom 401

Reservations, arrival, check-in

We booked the Winter Getaway Package, which was a fabulous deal. The package included two nights lodging, breakfast (this is included for all guests, actually), $40 in dining credits, and a gift bag. I booked the package over the telephone, as soon as we learned about it via MLive. I could not find the package on their website, although I did find it online after I had made our reservation. I am not sure if I missed it the first time, or if we booked our stay before their website had been updated to include the package.

I received a pre-arrival email a few days before our stay. There was a link in the email for room enhancements or requests, and I filled out the request form. I requested a top floor room in a quiet area, and I inquired about the bottle of wine included in our gift bag; I wanted to request red wine instead of white, if this was an option. I also asked if our room had a fireplace, as I had seen a few guestroom photos with fireplaces. I received a call from a staff member two days before our arrival. He told me that although our room type did not have a fireplace, we would have a nice top floor room in a quiet area, and that he had also fulfilled our request for red wine in our gift bag. The entire call was professional and positive.

We arrived at the hotel a bit earlier than we had expected--almost 2 hours before the check-in time of 4PM. We received a warm welcome, and the agent told us our room was ready. He provided information for our package, and hotel details. He also told me they had put a portable electric fireplace in our room for fireplace ambiance. Wow, I thought that was impressive!

The color of the two inside photos above is a bit distorted/blueish. Apparently, I had bumped the exposure on my phone before taking those photos. There is another photo of the sofa below, which is a better representation of the actual coloring in the guestroom.

Bayside king deluxe guestroom 401

We loved this guestroom. We had originally planned to book the basic king guestroom, and decided to upgrade to the bayside king deluxe guestroom. We were glad we did; it was definitely worth the extra cost!

The sofa and chair sitting area was comfortable. The cord on the fireplace was long enough that we could also turn it on an angle to face the sofa when we were seated there. One thing we missed in the sitting area was a coffee table. The table in the photo above is the table from the outside balcony that we cleaned before bringing it inside. My husband returned it to its original location before we checked out.

The view from the balcony and the sitting area was fabulous.

The bed, pillows, and bedding were all good quality and super comfy. The closet was deep enough to hold the folding luggage rack and our suitcase. The only thing missing was a light in the closet. I took the bed photo above before we moved the luggage rack to the closet. The gift bag photo at the top of this post was taken on the makeup/vanity table with mirror that is located next to the entrance door.

We loved the large tile shower with glass doors, although the standing area in the bathroom was a bit small. The shower is twice the size as what is shown in the photo above.

All in all, we think this is a great room, and we would request it again. Next time, I will ask about a bathrobe, too. I forgot to ask about that when I made my room requests, and I imagine that is something they probably have for use in the guestroom.

Food and beverage

Breakfast offerings were the same both mornings: scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, waffles, muffins, scones, cereals, toast, juices, and hot beverages. The food items were similar to buffet offerings, and the hot foods were served by a staff member cafeteria style. Waffles were made to order, so a food runner brought those to tables when they were ready.

The waffles and lemon poppy seed muffins were delicious!

Drinks at Noggin Room Pub inside Stafford's Perry hotel

We had dinner in Noggin Room Pub on Friday night with our $40 food credit: burger, side of onion rings, P-town Fish Stack, and three drinks (total; not each). Neither of the sandwiches came with sides, although the Fish Stack did have coleslaw on the sandwich.

Everything was delicious, although we thought the prices were a bit steep. Our check was over $60 before the $40 credit was applied, and before the tip was added.

Tuscan pizza at Noggin Room Pub

The next night, we opted for Tuscan pizza in our room so we could watch the sunset. The pizza was also very good, and the cost was reasonable.

Entertainment, public areas, misc.

A musician played in the pub on Friday evening starting at 6:30 PM. He was very good, and we stayed for the first set after dinner.

This hotel is beautiful, and there are many different areas for socializing. There is a library on the 4th floor, and the lobby area outside the pub on floor 2 is spacious. Outside, there is a covered terrace, along with seats around a fire ring. It was cold during our stay, and we did not see anyone using the outside areas.

Coffee is available 24 hours in a room next to the front desk. This hotel is within walking distance to downtown. We visited a few places in the Petoskey area, and you can find that information in my Northern Michigan post.

Let me know if you have any questions, and as always, feel free to share this post for others!
