Petoskey, Michigan: Stafford's Perry Hotel, downtown, shopping, winery, brewery

March 2024, weekday, one night

We had a wonderful stay in Stafford's Perry Hotel in 2021, so we decided to book the spring getaway package for this stay. The weeknight Classic King room rate of $159 included: a $25 breakfast voucher, $40 in Noggin Bucks, and $50 in downtown shopping dollars. We thought this was a fabulous rate!

Stafford's Perry Hotel classic king guestroom #426

This guestroom is located on the top floor in the northwest corner of the hotel. We had a partial view of downtown and of the bay. Although it was not as spacious as the bay view guestroom we had in 2021, and it did not have a balcony, this was still a great room. It was clean, and we appreciated the views.

The comfortable bed was topped with good quality sheets and pillows. The room was well soundproofed, and the sleep quality was excellent.

Although the sleep quality was great in this guestroom, the chairs were not very comfortable. Fortunately, this guestroom is located directly across from the library, which has a nice sitting area.

We loved the spacious bathroom and oversized shower! Good quality towels and bath amenities were provided.

Chicken wings and Spinach Artichoke Dip from Noggin Room Pub in Petoskey, MI

Food and beverages

We happened to visit The Noggin Room Pub for dinner during Happy Hour. Happy Hour is from 4PM to 5PM.  Several appetizers and the 6-piece chicken wings were $5 each. The Spinach and Artichoke Dip was amazing, although we were not crazy about the wings. The wings were breaded and deep fried. Draft beers were also on Happy Hour with great prices.

Breakfast in The Rose Dining Room in Stafford's Perry Hotel in Petoskey, MI

Our $25 breakfast coupon almost covered breakfast in The Rose Dining Room. I had a half order of Eggs Benedict, and my husband had Eggs with Ham and Toast. We did not have any beverages. Our bill was a couple of bucks before tip. The service was good, and the food was delicious.

We had a great visit at Spare Key Winery on our way to Petoskey (located just north of Charlevoix) where we enjoyed a tasting before purchasing a bottle of wine. Beards Brewery is another great place to visit within walking distance of Stafford's Perry Hotel. Great beer, and great prices. Both of these locations are participants in Reel Craft Pass. We had not planned to purchase a Reel Craft Pass this year; however, when they added the wineries, we decided to get one.

Shopping downtown Petoskey

Shopping in Petoskey was enjoyable. Along with our shopping bucks, we received a package from the hotel with several local coupons. Meyer Ace Hardware is the most unique Ace Hardware store we have ever visited. They have many local gifts. A few other merchants we enjoyed: Symons General Store & Wine CellarNorthGoods Gift Shop, BearCub Outfitters, and Fustini's. It was easy and fun spending our shopping dollars! 😊

Misc. and overall

We think Petoskey is a great town to visit any time of the year. When it is not camping season, we have stayed in several hotels in the area. The service at Stafford's Perry Hotel is always top notch, and this hotel is the closest one to downtown. Merchants in town provided the same excellent service that we received at Stafford's. It was not busy when we visited mid-week in March, and everyone seemed genuinely happy to have the business.

Let me know if you have any questions, and as always, feel free to share this post!
