November 2019, Thanksgiving, 1-night, King guestroom 425
Arrival, check-in, platinum perks
Our flight arrived before 11:00 AM, and we arrived at the hotel to check-in around noon. We had a bit of trouble getting the shuttle ride to the hotel, and the manager comped dinner for us that evening to make up for the excessive wait. We also received one of the larger king suite guestrooms, and the 600 platinum bonus points.
King guestroom #425
This guestroom is on the 4th floor near the atrium. It faces southwest overlooking the hotel pool and Tanger Outlets across the street. We stayed on Thanksgiving, and the stores opened at 6:00 PM for the entire night with shopping specials. Traffic was non-stop across the street during our entire stay. The windows in the guestroom are very soundproof, and we did not hear any noise from traffic or the airport.
This guestroom is spacious and comfortable. There was a door between the sleeping/sitting area and the bathroom area.
The bathroom was as big as the guestroom area with a soaking tub, shower, two vanities, TV, and a separate toilet room (pictures above and below). We loved the standup shower, and there was a great sunset view from the soaking tub.
In addition to the king size bed, the guestroom contained nightstands, a sofa, footstool, small table, armoire, two flatscreen TVs, a small fridge, microwave, coffeemaker with supplies, a safe, tub, separate shower, and complete bathroom amenities. There was a full length mirror inside the closet, and there were several charging outlets in the guestroom; USB ports and electrical.

As a personal preference, we would have preferred the layout with the bed by the window, rather than the bathroom area next to the window. Although the window was soundproof, we could hear noise from the atrium/bar area through the guestroom door. Noise was not bothersome during our stay, as the hotel was not very busy; however, if we had been staying on a busy evening, I would probably want a guestroom near the end of the hall instead.

Food & Beverages
Food offerings were limited Thanksgiving evening. We were very happy with our dinner choices: Shrimp and Grits for me, and my husband had the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Both meals had excellent flavor, and the prices were fair (not overpriced, like in some hotel restaurants). The restaurant was open in the morning; however, we did not have breakfast at the hotel.Pool area at Crowne Plaza Charleston airport |
Pool area
There is a nice outside sitting area around the pool with mesh and cushioned seats (loungers, chairs, and sofa), tables, umbrellas, and a fireplace. It was 70° the day we arrived, and my husband had hoped to go swimming when we saw the pool was filled and open. Unfortunately, the water was not heated, and he changed his mind after checking the temperature. We often observed guests in front of the fireplace when looking out our guestroom window. Again, the windows are well soundproofed, as we never heard any outside activity from inside our room.Shuttle, misc., overall
Overall, we were very happy with our stay at this hotel, and I would choose this hotel again. The hotel is 2½ miles from the airport, and the shuttle usually arrives within 10 minutes. We chose this hotel pre-cruise because of the airport shuttle, and it is within walking distance of Walmart (not that we are huge Walmart fans; we just needed to be within walking distance of a place that would be open on Thanksgiving, so we could buy wine for the cruise). Walmart is across the side street northwest of the hotel.
In addition to the outlet mall and Walmart, there are also several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.
We took Uber to the cruise port the day we checked out, and the cost was $11 before tip. I imagine this would cost more, and take longer, if traveling on a normal workday, rather than the Friday after Thanksgiving. There was not much traffic when we left, and our travel time was less than 20 minutes.
