Marco Island, Florida -- Marriott Beach Resort

Status perks
We stayed at this hotel a few years ago when I had Silver status, and other than the fact that I received free Internet this visit, I did not notice anything extra as a Gold member. There is not a concierge floor at this property, and I did not receive any breakfast coupons or other perks.

view from our room
Room
We received a room on the 5th floor with a partial gulf view. This is the same type of room we had last  time except that it was a few rooms closer toward the water, so the view was slightly better. The bed and couch were both comfortable, and the room amenities were good quality--the bathroom soaps and shampoos, as well as the coffee and creamer. The room had a good sized balcony and two chairs (this was standard for all the rooms), a nice safe--which was large enough to hold a laptop, and a small fridge. I liked the separate corner area for the coffee with additional storage. The room was spacious, and there was a very large closet near the bathroom. The only area that was kind of small was the bathroom where the toilet and tub/shower were located. The sink area outside the bathroom by the closet was spacious as well.

Food & Beverage
We had drinks and seafood tacos at Quinn's on the Beach one evening. The temperature was cool, so the bar was not crowded, and we had a perfect sunset view. Although the beverages were expensive--like most everything else at this resort--the quality was good. A female musician provided guitar music and sang. We had drinks in the lobby bar one evening, which I liked even better. The seating in the lobby bar was comfortable and chic. Free deluxe snacks were served, and food items were available for purchase. We had bagels for breakfast at the cafe one morning. The quality, selection, and pricing was comparable to any bagel/coffee shop.

Pools, Beach, Activities
resort view from beach in the evening
There were two tropical pools with plenty of seating. The lounge chairs were comfy, and pool attendants assisted with placement when needed. There were three hot tubs counting the one at the spa pool. The spa pool was designated for guests in the spa rooms only. There was a Tiki bar next to the lagoon style pool, and a waterfall and small water slide in the pool. A towel hut was located at both pools, as well as on the beach. There was an extra lounging area by Quinn's Pool, which was partially shaded. There is a large beach area in front of the resort. The beach sand is soft and white with plenty of chairs available. There is a charge for the "chickee huts," and there is no charge for a chair on the beach.

There was a ping pong table outside the large game room. The resort had scheduled activities for  children, such as rock climbing and sea shell painting.

Fitness center
I did not use the fitness center since we walked on the beach everyday; however, I saw other guests using the center. It was a large room located near Quinn's Pool with several cardio machines.

Overall
We liked this resort just as much as the last time we stayed here, although it is expensive. We found great rates both times we stayed for less than $200 just before Christmas. Rates are usually $300 - $500 a night. There is also a charge for parking and Internet (unless you are a Marriott Gold member or higher). There are several dining options within walking distance.
