Arrival and platinum perks

I reserved a standard king guestroom with points, and received an upgrade to a two bedroom villa. We arrived early, and the front desk agent said she would put in an early check-in request for us. We checked our luggage, then returned our rental car, and walked back to the property. I am not sure the early check-in request really did much good, because we did not receive a call saying our room was ready until over three hours later, shortly after 3:30 PM. After we received the call, we returned to the front desk to get our checked luggage, and then waited a few minutes for the property tram, as our villa was in building 2 at the far end of the property. We arrived at our villa around 3:45 PM. It did not appear that anyone had recently stayed in this villa. Since check-in time is 4:00 PM, I guess the early arrival request got us into our room a few minutes early! 😆 😳

We absolutely loved our villa upgrade, even though we did not have much of a view. It was much more fabulous than a regular hotel room.

The villa number matches the building number, floor, and then unit number. We were in building 2 on the 3rd floor, in unit 12.

This villa is a complete living unit. The living and kitchen areas were spacious, and the balcony contained a table and chairs. The view overlooked the pedestrian walkway. The channel was beyond the walkway, although you could not see the water due to the shrubbery.

The master bathroom contained a whirlpool tub and shower.

The villa also had a safe, and washer and dryer. Basic supplies were provided, such as: soap, dishwasher detergent and dish soap, coffee and creamer, paper towel, laundry detergent, dishes, etc. 

The bed comfort was acceptable, although the mattress was a tad hard. The pillows also felt old and lumpy. The sheets were clean, although not as good of quality as the bedding at the Holiday Inn in Columbus, Indiana.

Property amenities

This building is located on the ocean, and the villas on the east side of building 2 have full ocean views. There is a short boardwalk out to the beach area where chairs and such are available for rent.

This property has two outside pools, a lazy river, hot tubs, volleyball, basketball, a picnic area, and more.

There is an outside bar next to the front pool, and an inside bar. Both bars have Happy Hour specials. An entertainer was playing music beside the outside pool bar while we were waiting for our room.

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Fresh popcorn was served in the lobby around 3:00 PM.

Misc. and overall

The basic hotel rooms, restaurant, and bars are located in the main building with the front desk and tour desk. The main pool and lazy river are behind this building, and then the property continues out to the ocean passing the remaining activities and buildings. We did not learn what the Signature Collection rooms are like in building 3 (see property map photo at start). The second pool and hot tubs are located next to this building.

This property is located directly across the street from the cruise port, and we were able to walk to our ship in the morning. The photo above shows the location of Holiday Inn building 2 from the cruise ship after we boarded.

Overall, we enjoyed this property and appreciated the upgrade. We have another cruise booked from this area next winter, and are planning to stay at this property again.
