Diamond perks and check-in

I had reserved a king guestroom; however, there were no king guestrooms available on the top floor when I checked in, so I chose a queen guestroom instead. I spoke with someone at the hotel before arrival and when I arrived to make sure. The front desk agent handed me two bottles of water when I arrived.

We loved this guestroom. It was comfortable, clean, and well soundproofed. During our arrival check-in, the front desk agent had mentioned that sometimes this side of the building is loud with the UPS hub activity from the building behind the hotel. We did not think the noise from the facility was loud or bothersome at all. Possibly, the noise is louder on lower floors.

The guestroom was spacious, and contained all needed kitchen supplies. There was a divider curtain between the sleeping area and the seating area.

The bathroom shower was nice, and the towels were good quality.

Food and beverage

The included breakfast was good quality and food items were fresh. There was plenty of seating inside and outside.

Recreation, public areas

This hotel has an inside pool and a fitness center. There is plenty of seating in all areas of the hotel: near the pool, in the lobby/dining area, and outside.

As non-smokers, we appreciated the designated outside smoking area. We have stayed in many hotels where people smoke just outside the doors, so you have to walk through the smoke when entering or exiting the hotel. This hotel had a covered area, similar to a bus stop vestibule, for smokers.

Misc. and overall

We both loved our stay at this hotel. The service was great, the sleep quality was excellent, and all areas of the hotel were super clean! It was easy to get to the hotel from I-80 and I-475 (we arrived via 80, and departed via 475). 

There are a few restaurants and stores within walking distance of the hotel. We walked to Four Fires Meadery. The service was great, and the meads were good. I thought they were a tad expensive compared to Michigan prices, yet we still left with a freshly canned mead. 😬 As someone who likes to know where money is spent, I also did not like that they did not have any posted prices. We inquired about this, and all they had was a board with the flavors available; no printed or online menus either.
