Sikeston, Missouri: Hampton Inn and more

We had initially planned to stay at the Holiday Inn in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and changed our stay to this hotel a few days before our arrival. We decided we wanted to travel a bit farther than Poplar Bluff before stopping for the night, and this hotel is fairly new.

Arrival and diamond perks

I booked a basic king guestroom, as the online photos showed a sofa in the guestroom. I decided to call the hotel after I received the email to check-in online, and the agent upgraded us to a suite. When we arrived, the front desk agent offered me a beverage and snack.

Guestroom 429

This suite is on the top floor on the southwest corner of the building. Even though that is the end of the building closest to US-60, we were not bothered by traffic noise. The sunset view was excellent.

Although this guestroom did not contain anything more than the previous Hampton Inn suite we had stayed in, this was a more enjoyable stay. The room was newer, cleaner, and more soundproof. There is a sofa in this suite along the wall parallel to the desk, which I did not get in any photos.

A vanity and closet were located outside of the bathroom shower and toilet area. Although the shower room was not very spacious, the area seemed larger because of the spacious walk-in shower with glass doors.

The internet connection in the guestroom was good. The ice maker worked on this floor, and there was sanitizer in the automatic dispensers next to the elevators. This was our first hotel this week where both of those features were available and working.

Watami Restaurant in Sikeston, MO

Food & beverage - at the Hampton Inn and nearby

Breakfast included the usual Hampton Inn foods, and the food was fresh. There are several restaurants within walking distance of this hotel: Watami (Japanese), La Ruelta (Mexican), a Chinese restaurant, pizza place, and a few fast food/chain restaurants. We had sushi from Watami, which was mediocre. The salad and miso soup were both fresh and flavorful. The sushi was also fresh, although it did not have much flavor.

Daily special at This Guys Smoke 'n Grill

We stopped at a smokehouse north of Little Rock, Arkansas on our way to this hotel. The food was delicious! The service was a tad slow; however, the place was also very busy.

Overall

Everything about this stay was good, and we would definitely choose this hotel again. The room was perfect, the service and location were good, and it was very clean!
