Sunrise from our bedroom balcony DoubleTree Melbourne Beach suite 913 |
We had an amazing stay at this hotel booked totally with points. The service was great, the guestroom was comfortable, and the food was amazing. The hotel is located between the Atlantic Ocean and intercostal waterway. We enjoyed ocean sunrises from our bedroom balcony, and sunsets over the waterway from the table in the living room.

Arrival, check-in, diamond perks
We arrived quite early before check-in time, and opted to wait for a top floor guestroom. We walked on the beach, and settled in at the pool area, expecting to wait a few hours for our room. We were surprised when we received a text before noon telling us our room was ready. I received two bottles of water, and $30 per day food and beverage credit. There are only three types of guestrooms at this property, unless they have hidden rooms, so there was no opportunity for an upgrade.

King guestroom 913
This room is set up almost exactly like an Embassy Suites. The entrance door opened into a spacious room with a small table and 2 chairs, and a sofa with left arm facing chaise. A flatscreen TV, small fridge, microwave, and beverage items (coffee/ice bucket) were on the large countertop/armoire across from the sofa. I do not have pictures of this area; the photos on the hotel website match this guestroom.
Shower in suite 913 DoubleTree Melbourne Beach |
The bathroom was located between the living room and the bedroom. The large vanity was along the hallway area on the right, and the shower and toilet room were on the left. Several good quality towels and washcloths were provided, along with bath amenities. There was a door that could be closed to the bathroom, and one for the bedroom.

The bedroom contained a king size bed, dresser, suitcase bench, nightstands, and a second flatscreen TV. The bedroom closet contained a safe, iron and board, folding luggage rack, hangers and extra bedding.

A large sliding glass door opened out to a balcony with 2 chairs. We were able to leave the balcony door open and listen to the surf, as there were not any bugs out at the time of our stay. We were disrupted by a nearby guest the first two nights of our stay. Someone smoked outside on the balcony around 6AM both mornings, and in the afternoon. We had guests on both sides of us, and were not 100% certain where this was coming from. The guests apparently checked out before us, as this did not happen the last afternoon and morning.

Food & beverage in the DoubleTree and nearby
We had breakfast and lunch in the dining room (Sea Grapes Restaurant) once each during our stay, and we had lunch outside on the patio one day. It is comfortable inside the dining room, and some of the seats overlook the pool area.

All of the food we had was delicious and a good portion size. We received excellent service when we dined inside (other than the person who seated us for breakfast). There did not appear to be table service at the outside tables on the patio. After we had been seated for awhile, we walked over and ordered at the outside bar. We also went to the bar area to pay after our meal. We were not in a rush when we did this; we waited to see what would happen before approaching the bar. The Ahi Tuna had been so delicious when we dined inside, that I ordered the same thing on the patio. My husband had the burger. We do not have any real complaints about the food we received on the patio, although it was definitely inferior to what we had received the day before inside.
Cantina Dos Amigos in Indialantic, Florida |
There are several restaurants within walking distance of this hotel. We dined at Cantina Dos Amigos on Taco Tuesday. Cantina margaritas are half price on Wednesdays. They have an El Cheapo menu Monday - Friday from 11:00 to 3:00 PM. Chips and salsa are complimentary. The service, food, and beverages were all excellent. This restaurant is less than 1 mile from the hotel.

Pool and outside areas
This hotel was quite busy each day of our stay, yet we did not have too much trouble getting lounge chairs in the area between the pool and beach. Most families with children were in the area directly around the pool, and many people rented lounge chairs on the beach. The cost for 2 chairs and an umbrella was $40.

Misc. and overall
Overall, this was a great stay. Parking cost was $12.50 a night ($13.38 with taxes). Our points redemption did not cover this. There is a fitness center in the hotel on level 2.
View of guestroom patios from suite 913 DoubleTree Melbourne Beach |
Before we arrived at the hotel, we had a difficult time deciding between a top floor suite, which is usually our preference, or a suite on the bottom floor with an outside patio. The bottom floor rooms have loungers, and there is shrubbery between the rooms to create privacy. Although the rooms look great, we were glad we opted for a top floor guestroom for the ocean view.
Watching the rocket launch at Kennedy Space Center from DoubleTree Melbourne Beach |
There was a rocket launch from Kennedy Space Center during our stay, which we watched from our balcony. We were able to see much more than I was able to capture in my photos above.
Florida Trail Herky Huffman/Bull Creek |
We took our time on the way back to Orlando via 192, and stopped to hike Florida Trail Herky Huffman/Bull Creek Trail on the way.
Let me know if you have any questions!
