Frankfort, Michigan: Harbor Lights Resort

 March 2021, Weekend, 1-night

I am sharing just a few photos in this post. You can find more photos and details for this location in my Harbor Lights Facebook album.

Reservations and arrival

This was our first time staying in the resort, although we did stay at the marina with our boat in July 2020. There are many different room types available, and we had a difficult time deciding which type we wanted. After a call to the hotel with a few questions, we decided to go with a 2nd floor luxury suite. We then made the reservation online. Since we stayed off-season, we were able to stay for only one night. A two-night stay is required during peak season. The check-in process when we arrived was efficient, and the associate provided friendly assistance.

Harbor Lights Resort second floor luxury suite #415

Even though I had talked with someone before our stay, I did not understand exactly where our room would be located. This room is located at the northwest end of the building north of the pool and office. I assume all rooms of this type are located in this building, although I do not know for sure. We were very happy with this room type and will probably reserve the same guestroom type for our next stay. It is like an entire condo: full kitchen, living room, bathroom, bedroom, and good size balcony.

The kitchen contained the basic necessities: glasses, plates, silverware, a few pots and pans, a toaster, full size coffeepot with coffee, dish detergent, dishcloths, and paper towel. A dishwasher is located to the right of the sink, which is not visible in the photo above. There is a fresh water and ice dispenser on the front door of the freezer (visible in the photo below).

The table between the kitchen and living room had seating for four. The living room contained a sofa, chair, coffee table, end tables and lamps.

There is a flatscreen TV in the living room, and in the bedroom. The fireplace between the two rooms is visible from both rooms. You can see the corner of the bed through the fireplace in the photo above. The fireplaces kicks off a lot heat, which was nice, since it was cool out during our stay.

The bedroom was a good size, and contained a king size bed, nightstands with lamps, a dresser, whirlpool tub, and two closets (one with hangers, and one with shelves near the tub).

There is a door out to the balcony from the living room, and from the bedroom; however, we could not get the outside storm door open in the bedroom. I am not sure if this door is supposed to open, as we did not bring it to anyone's attention. We did not use the TV in the bedroom, which is located above the fireplace. The bedroom is well soundproofed even with the see through fireplace. We could not hear the living room TV when we were in the bedroom.

The spacious bathroom contained a double vanity and large shower stall. Towels and bath amenities were provided.

Misc. and overall

The inside pool area was closed for maintenance during our visit. Someone from the resort had called us about this a couple of weeks before our stay to make us aware of this, and to see if it would impact our decision to stay. Since we had a room with a whirlpool tub, the pool area did not matter to us.

This resort used to offer continental breakfast type items pre-COVID, although this was not being offered during our stay.

Overall, this was a fabulous stay. Our room was exceptionally clean, and it was comfortable. Staff members provided amazing assistance and local information. This resort is within walking distance of the beach, downtown, and Betsie Valley Trailway.
