Fort Wayne, Indiana / Hilton Garden Inn

June 2014, Weekday, 2-nights, King guestroom 335

This has been a busy, busy time for me! I started this review a few weeks after my stay, and I am finishing it even later than that, so it is not as detailed as most of the reviews I provide. I do have some pictures to share, and I will provide detail about items I took notes about during my stay.

Status perks and check-in
I received an email from this hotel before I arrived welcoming me. This was not an automatic email sent via the central hotel system; it came directly from the Hilton Garden Inn Fort Wayne. I remember that I replied because my flight was arriving after 9:00 p.m., and I also recapped my room preferences at that time.

When I arrived, I received the standard two bottles of water for Gold members and my room type preferences. I did not receive a room upgrade, and I did not ask about one.

Guestroom 335
This guestroom is located at the end of the hall on the top floor.  It was similar to all of the Hilton Garden Inns I have stayed in. It was comfortable and clean with the same type of furnishings.

The bathroom was stocked with Neutrogena amenities, and the towels were good quality. There was a tub/shower combination with a shower curtain on a curved rod. A hairdryer was provided, although I do not recall the quality. I think it was the same kind of lower quality unit mounted on the wall that was in the Buffalo airport Hilton Garden Inn

A closet was located by the entrance door across from the bathroom, and the beverage center was next to the closet. The beverage center contained an ice bucket, K-cup machine, microwave, and fridge. The coffee supplies include liquid creamer.

The work and sitting area included a large desk, chair, soft chair with footstool, and an end table. The area was well lit. The Internet connection speed in the guestroom was horrifically slow.

I was disappointed that housekeeping did not clean my guestroom during stayover before 4:00 p.m. I had a meeting call at 4:00, so I got coffee and needed supplies from a housekeeper in the hall when I returned to the guestroom just before 4:00.

Fitness center
The sign by the fitness center said that it opened at 5:00 a.m.; however, the welcome note I received at check-in said that it is open 24 hours. I had a similar thing happen in a hotel I stayed in last week. I like the fitness center being open 24 hours, although I wish hotels would be better about updating the signs, too. More than 50% of the time, I do not receive a letter or verbal information of what the hours are.

Misc.
This hotel is located in the same parking lot as the Homewood Suites. Although I like Hilton Garden Inn, I would have preferred to stay at the Homewood Suites. Unfortunately, the rate at the Homewood Suites was considerably more than at the Hilton Garden Inn. Both properties look well maintained.
